A lot has changed in how Google handles paginated archives recently when they introduced their support for rel=”next” and rel=”prev” links. We’ve written an article about that: rel=”next” and rel=”prev” for paginated archives, which is a bit too technical to fully list here, but suffice to say our Yoast SEO plugin takes care of all the needed changes automatically.
Hi Alex! Thanks for replying. Yes, by website provider I intended to say the platform where I have built my entire website years ago (IMC) I had provided you with my website address in my previous post). I do not have complains about the quality, speed or content size available on it, and since I was happy with the graphic results I did not really intended to migrate. But I do find strange that a high quality website builder like this displays so few SEO options to be managed. Unless my level of knowledge on SEO structure is so low that it is preventing me from any basic SEO improvement… I do not know. As I said before, I unfortunately did not find the links you mentioned in order to make the right SEO improvements. 🙁
I don’t know why but, even if I wrote a description for every article using All in One Seo Pack, Google takes descriptions directly from my articles, it doesn’t show the description I write in All in One Seo plugin.
Ask their clients how long it was before they saw an increase in search engine-related business. Find out if they were satisfied with the level of communication the company gave them. Did they follow through on all the promises they made from the start?
Wow, it’s going to take me a while to go through all of this and learn this amount of SEO information. I booked marked this page and will use it as a valuable recourse. I love how you have outlined the Topics and the general layout makes it much easier
Knowing the right keywords to target is all-important when priming your web copy. Google’s free keyword tool, part of Adwords, couldn’t be easier to use. Plug your website URL into the box, start reviewing the suggested keywords and off you go. Jill Whalen, CEO of HighRankings.com is a fan and offers advice to those new to keyword optimisation: “make sure you use those keywords within the content of your website.
Speaking of writing for human visitors first (and search engines second), your content should be relevant to your target audience. This is one of the reasons why you need to define your target audience from the word go. Create unique and valuable web content that’s relevant to your target audience. Write in their language, the language they understand and if you’ve done your keyword research well, you shouldn’t have a problem adding keywords to your content.
In the enterprise space, one major trend we’re seeing lately is data import across the big players. Much of SEO involves working with the data Google gives you and then filling in all of the gaps. Google Search Console (formerly, Webmaster Tools) only gives you a 90-day window of data, so enterprise vendors, such as Conductor and Screaming Frog, are continually adding and importing data sources from other crawling datasbases (like DeepCrawl’s). They’re combining that with Google Search Console data for more accurate, ongoing Search Engine Results Page (SERP) monitoring and position tracking on specific keywords. SEMrush and Searchmetrics (in its enterprise Suite packages) offer this level of enterprise SERP monitoring as well, which can give your business a higher-level view of how you’re doing against competitors.
You can run the SERPs Rank Checker in either of 2 ways. You can input the keyword and your website and see where you land in the results or you can leave the website field of the tool free to view the top to bottom list of the results for the given keyword.
A sitemap is an excellent addition to your website, especially if you want to make it more accessible and user-friendly. The XML Google Sitemap Generator helps you create a secure and efficient sitemap for your site in the click of a button. It is not just useful for building Sitemaps; it is also beneficial when it comes to finding broken links on your website. There is nothing that anyone hates more than being stuck when you are trying to get around the site.
3. SEMrush: It’s great for competitor keyword research but I love the Guru subscription that has historical keyword ranking data which can be great in preparing for client SEO pitches where you can review why historical SEO dips have occurred and then you can talk about how they can be fixed.
I revisited this post after receiving your recent email newsletter. I am glad I took the time to come back and revisit a post I had already read because it brought back some ideas I had forgotten about for a project I am working on.
SEO is about optimizing your website to get better rankings in the search results while SEM goes beyond SEO. It involves other methods that can get you more search engine visitors like PPC advertising.
While a competitive advantage is to be had by manually reviewing your backlinks, it IS very time consuming. I recommend KERBOO if you need to quickly review any site to highlight toxic links. Disclosure: I am a customer and affiliate.
89. 9 Step On-Page SEO Guide – This succinct guide from Hubspot is great at explaining, in an easy to comprehend manner, what the most important factors of on-page optimization are. It is very meticulous and can be used as a template.
Monitor and maintain your presence in Google search results by signing up for Google Search Console. It’s a free service and helps you understand how Google sees your site. With this information, you can optimize your site’s performance in search results.
Robots.txt files let the web robots know what to do with a website’s pages. When a page is disallowed in robots.txt, that’s instructions telling the robots to completely skip over those web pages. There are some exceptions in which case a robots.txt might be ignored, most notably malware robots that are looking for security issues.

101. SEOlium On-page Optimization Guide – I love it when fundamental notions are explained in unambiguous and simple language, aided by visuals. That’s why I wanted to include this guide from SEOlium, which manages to explain very clearly and skillfully what one needs to know and do for effective on-page optimization. If you’re a SEO novice, or are training one, you might want to share this resource with them.
SEMRush has quickly become one of my favorite tools over the past couple years and the new features they add just make it better. I use it for everything from keyword research, to content optimization to competitive audits and link building.
The Search Engine Land Landy awards offers coveted awards to SEO consultants and SEO agencies, one of those being, Search Marketer of the Year. In 2017, John Lincoln has been named a finalist for the Search Marketer of the Year in the male category. This is due to submitting over 28 positive case studies, creating a movie on search engine optimization and growing Ignite Visibility to over 150 clients.
Twitter is a cool form of micro-blogging / chatting / whatever you want to call it. Almost all the “cool” people are on there, and they read their tweets more often than they read their e-mail, if you even knew how to reach them through e-mail.
With all the challenges of running an e-commerce enterprise, few businesses think about unique on product pages. Many pull product information from a database, leading to duplicate content problems.
I’ve heard so much about tools like Google Analytics, and I used to edit for a wiki called AboutUs that claimed to have a lot of SEO tools, such as free homepage analysis and paid whole-website analysis. Anyone familiar with the tools on AboutUs? They do this nifty keyword analysis, or at least they did recently. I will have to start researching AboutUs again, since it has changed a little bit. Do any of you use that website?
131. Wordstream Free Keyword Tools – For beginner purposes, or for someone who’s managing a single site, free keyword tools can still make a difference. That’s why I definitely wanted to add Wordstream’s list of free keyword tools, starting with the generic tool that relies on a constantly updated database of over a trillion unique search queries. Then, you can keep refining your lists by taking your terms through the keyword niche finder, the keyword grouping tool, or the negative keyword tool. While this might mean a little bit more work from you than would be required with a paid tool, in the end, you’re left with a highly valuable keyword list. I also like the adult filter, and the “nichefy keyword results” filter. Pretty nifty, but make no mistake – you’ve got a limited number of uses per day, so use them wisely! You get 10 tries on your first day, and just one per day from then on.
Bottom Line: Moz Pro runs the gamut of SEO tools across position monitoring, keyword research, crawling, and everything in between. As the company better integrates all of these products, this Editors’ C…
Google Search Console is imperative to get info on indexation, crawling and keyword data straight from Google that you can’t get anywhere else. It gives you greater insight about your site’s SEO and how to improve.
Perhaps a bug bit me because every time I’m on a great website, I always resize my browser to check if the site is responsive. The same bug must have bit someone at Google as well, because if you haven’t noticed, they’ve already introduced mobile friendly labels in search results.
Further to this, since 2014 mobile search has continued on its stratospheric trajectory and with the Google Maps app on smartphones everywhere, it is a significant channel through which visibility on search engines can be increased.
The last tool I would use is Google Search Console. Google Search Console offers more information about your website that can help with optimization efforts and you can tell Google more information about your site.
