The key to writing content on a website is to find a middle ground between human visitors and search engine visitors. A quality website article would be written in a way where any human can easily read and understand it, while at the same time including keywords into your copy in order to rank for it. Getting used to this process may take time; but by analyzing your competitors you can pick up on certain writing styles that do target both kinds of visitors.
Firstly, SEO involves two strategies namely on-page and off-page optimization. On-page optimization consists of all optimization activities that you do on your site (or web pages). This includes content creation, adding keywords and optimizing title and meta tags. Off-page optimization is every other SEO activity that involves third party websites such as blog commenting, guest blogging, directory submissions, link building and social bookmarking.
I’m not saying I will never return to offering private SEO consulting again, but for now, I am only working for my current employer and a very small group of clients who have been with me since the beginning who (for now) refuse to let me go.
This means that correctly optimizing your images can help drive traffic to your site (and your content), making image optimization a critical element of SEO for content marketing. The key elements of optimizing your images for SEO are…
First, ignore the “TOP SEO, OMG I’M AWESOME, BECAUSE I PAID FOR THIS AND BELONG TO THIS COMMUNITY!” lists. The same goes for the banners on their sites, because we know those help convert customers regardless of merit or criteria. I hate to point out the obvious, but sometimes, we’re really stupid when it comes to the Internet and there is a generational and digital divide that puts certain researchers at an immediate disadvantage.
These are definitely some good tips! I’d also like to suggest Copyleaks as a plagiarism detector. I had a problem a few months ago where I found out a website was scraping my content and it was bringing down my Google rankings and I had no idea why it was happening for months. Now I’m immediately notified if my content is being published elsewhere the moment it happens.
Identify a keyword phrase for each page. Think about how your reader might search for that specific page (with phrases like “mechanical engineering in Michigan,” “best applied physics program,” or “Michigan Tech degrees”). Then, repeat this phrase several times throughout the page—once or twice in the opening and closing paragraphs, and two to four more times throughout the remaining content.
Check My Links on steroids. Like many tools, LinkMiner check for broken links on a page. But this free Chrome extension also shows you how many links the broken link has pointing to it. Uber helpful for broken link building.
Justin Shattuck the same, and created the Comment Relish plugin which sends an email after someone has made his first comment, unfortunately, this plugin is no longer maintained. Another option, which is maintained and is also a bit less obtrusive / spammy, is to install our comment redirect plugin. This plugin allows you to redirect people who have made their first comment to a specific “thank you” page.
Find the right images. Finding relevant images that relate to your web copy is of utmost importance – both for humans and search engines. While research shows that text is the first thing view on the page, it is the image that ultimately sells the page.

For starters, you can enjoy the free access to reading discussions and finding out what SEOs talk about, what preoccupies them, and what new trends shift around. Which network is right for your advertising campaign? One major factor is user preference: Google is by far the more popular platform, with roughly three-quarters of market share, but that doesn’t mean Bing doesn’t deserve your attention.
STAT – What I love about STAT is the ability to scale research across an industry or massive data set. If you’re working with a ton of variables and want to find holistic trends across clients or competitors, this is your tool.
So now that you know what not to do, what is the right amount of keyword density? Many SEO experts on the web today have collaborated together and have come to the conclusion that an optimal keyword density is between 1 to 3 percent. This rule of thumb should help ground you and your content writing style. Of course you want to include your keyword in your page copy – but do it organically through the process of your writing. Find a solid middle ground that sounds good to you and people in your industry, and you should be OK. And again, it is always prudent to investigate your competitors and potentially emulate their successful writing style.

Its true content is the reality of SEO. However, content, in and of itself, does NOTHING for your business (or your SEO, for that matter). It just sits right where you left it – on your site – like a good ol’ dog… and if you want it to fetch you traffic, sales, and, yes!, backlinks, you’ll actually have to take it a few steps further.
